STUDENT MIDWIFE
Andrea Sutherland, Student
Originally from Southern California, Andrea is a proud wife and mother of three, whose children inspire her deep commitment to maternal health and family centered care. Her journey is rooted in resilience, service, and a calling to support others during life’s most meaningful moments. Before entering birth work, Andrea served four years in the U.S Army, where she developed discipline, leadership, and compassion that continues to shape her approach to care.
Andrea’s path toward midwifery was profoundly shaped by personal experiences that deepened her understanding of grief, healing, and the importance of compassionate support. These experiences strengthened her desire to serve families with empathy, presence, and advocacy.
Outside of her academic and professional pursuits, Andrea enjoys weightlifting and creating core memories with her family. Finding strength and clarity through physical training and sharing special moments with her children and husband.
Andrea’s instinct to care runs deep as she shows up ready to serve, listen, and support without hesitation. Her goals include earning the title of midwife, expanding her presence within the birth community, and continuing to advocate for compassionate, evidence-based maternal care wherever she is called.
