Marissa began working for Joyful Beginnings as an administrative assistant before transitioning full time to student midwife for the practice in May 2025.

After years of nurturing mothers and babies as a nanny, Marissa’s path toward midwifery felt like a natural evolution of a lifelong calling.

Growing up in a medical family, she was surrounded by conversations about care, healing, and the human body but it wasn’t until she witnessed her first home birth at just 16 that everything truly clicked. That experience completely transformed her understanding of birth; not as a medical event, but as a deeply powerful and sacred process.

Now, as a student midwife, she brings with her years of hands-on caregiving, a deep respect for the birthing journey, and an unwavering belief in the strength and intuition of women. Each step she takes is rooted in the love she’s always had for this work and the deep honor it is to walk alongside families as they grow.
